June 14 - Sparring Camp with Referee/judging workshop

We’re excited to announce our June sparring camp!

Instructor:

Jesse Tucker, HCC President, HEMA OG, previously 9th rated longsword, and 6th rated S&B fencer in the world will be our instructor for the event!

Workshop:

Exact details to come, but we will be going over what makes a good referee & judge, and include some practice time with it.

Sparring Camp

All swords, all skill levels, and all organizations welcome! We will be including an intensity consent system as successfully implemented in the Midway Training Day event so that everyone can get some fencing in, at a level they are comfortable participating in. In keeping with the workshop theme, you may also work in a group of 4 to have the matches be judged in order to practice judging & refereeing as well. This of course is optional, as we know that not everyone is interested in the competitive domain.

You will be provided coached feedback from Jesse & other coaches throughout the event as well!

Schedule

10:00 to 12:00 - Workshop

12:00 to 12:30 - Pizza lunch (if you cannot have pizza we’ll do our best to accommodate)

12:30 - 18:00 - Sparring Camp

Cost

$80 Standard Ticket price

$60 For Bighorn Students

All costs go towards instructor flights & accommodation, rent, and supporting the club.
